The second training program of the Tarabot Project, aimed at enhancing community participation for peace and security for law enforcement officers and community committees in Ash Shihr city, was successfully concluded. The program was implemented by Peace Paths Foundation (PPF) with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the Small Grants Mechanism of the UN Peace Support Facility (PSF). The closing ceremony was attended by Mr. Adel Ba'akaba, Director General of Ash Shihr District, and Colonel Khaled Al-Jumhi, Director of Security in Ash Shihr District.
The five-day training workshop brought together 20 participants to contribute to the development and capacity-building of law enforcement officers and community committees. The program focused on enhancing their skills in conflict resolution, local mediation, and strengthening the close relationship between security agencies, community committees, and citizens.
Participants were trained on key concepts, including community safety, community participation, peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and local mediation. They also learned about conflict mechanisms, scientific methodologies for resolving disputes, and the roles of different parties in community conflicts. Additionally, the training covered dialogue, negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and steps for resolving local disputes, emphasizing the importance of coordination and collaboration between security forces and community committees.
The Tarabot Project aims to establish more effective foundations and enhance the capacities of local communities as a viable approach to fostering a more flexible and sustainable peace process. The project targets 200 individuals from law enforcement officers and community committees across five districts in the coastal and valley regions of Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra Governorate.
