The first training program of the "Tarabut" project, aimed at enhancing community participation for peace and security among law enforcement officers and community committees in Mukalla, has successfully concluded. This initiative is implemented by the Peace Paths Foundation (PPF) with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as part of the small grants mechanism of the UN's Peace Support Facility (PSF).

Over five days, the training workshop brought together 20 participants to develop and enhance the capabilities and skills of law enforcement officers and community committees. The goal is to improve their contributions to conflict resolution, local mediation, and strengthen the connection between security agencies, community committees, and citizens.

Participants received training on community safety concepts, community engagement, peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and local mediation. They learned scientific methodologies for conflict resolution, identified patterns among conflict parties in the community, and explored concepts of dialogue and negotiation, including mediation and arbitration techniques for resolving local disputes and building community peace. Emphasis was placed on the importance of collaboration and coordination between security forces and community committees, and their shared roles.

The "Tarabut" project aims to lay a solid foundation for effectively building the capacities of local communities, facilitating a more resilient peace process. It targets 200 individuals from law enforcement and community committees across five districts in Hadramout and Al-Mahra Governorates.
