Masarat Al Salam Foundation is implementing an initiative to build and equip a women's detention center in the Criminal Investigation Department in Al Ghaydah District, Al Mahrah Governorate.

This morning, Colonel Zakaria Al-Yousfi, Director of the Command and Control Department of the Security and Police Department of Al Mahrah Governorate, launched the implementation of the Tarabut Community Participation Project's outcomes initiative. The initiative includes the construction and equipping of a women's detention center with a restroom at the Criminal Investigation Department in Al Ghaydah District. This contribution falls within the framework of the project's outcomes to enhance the role of security and police in addressing community issues. The implementation of the initiative falls within the security priorities of establishing a women's detention center, which contributes to supporting security efforts to reduce cases and crimes in the community and is an important necessity for protecting detained women. The initiative is part of the Tarabut Project, funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the small grants mechanism of the United Nations Peace Support Facility (PSF). Colonel Al-Yousfi praised the efforts of this contribution and initiative, which he described as an important necessity for enhancing the security role in controlling and protecting female detainees in security and criminal cases, ensuring proper legal procedures during detention, and gathering evidence for cases. He praised the role of the Peace Paths Foundation and the United Nations Development Programme in this important initiative, which is part of the Tarabut Project. The initiative launch was attended by Mr. Obaid Waqed, the project manager for the foundation, and a number of officers and representatives of the Al Ghaydah Security Department and the Criminal Investigation Department in the governorate and the directorate.
